Keep President Hampton

On April 2nd the school body received that there was a petition that published on behalf of the Lane Legacy Project (LC Alumni), to push for the resignation of Dr. Logan Hampton, the current President of Lane College. 

Members of the Lane College Alumni have banned together to insist that President Logan Hampton resigns from his position immediately. President Hampton is reportedly accused of being responsible for the declined financial standing, hiring unqualified workers, and damaging the college’s brand while also putting students at risk. In their petition it says, “It is our determination that Dr. Logan Hampton has explicitly, and what would seem intentionally, failed to carry out his responsibilities as President, lacks sagaciousness, and an aptitude to serve in a leadership capacity with the ability to continue the legacy and traditions of our founder Bishop Isaac Lane.” As a fellow student of Lane College me and my peers would love for President Hampton to stay. We know that our college is not perfect and we know that there are many things needing to be fixed, but we also recognize the fact that President Hampton is working very hard to improve Lane College. We’ve seen nothing but change since he’s come to Lane College, from dorm buildings, academics, to even the cafeteria, there has been a constant, noticeable, number of improvements over the years with Hampton. Some people feel like President Hampton doesn’t do his job but in reality he does more than what he’s assigned to do. Our President Logan Hampton looks out for each and every one of his students. He walks around campus everyday socializing with Lane College students. He listens to our problems while helping us to find the best possible solutions to fix them. He also listens to our ideas to better the campus and does what he can to try and put them in effect. Here are a few things some of the students have to say about him as well:

“Dr. Hampton is a leader in all aspects. He’s a huge fan of the band and all extracurricular activities on campus. I have also seen many positive chances to the campus, staff, and dorms since my freshman year. People don’t realize & understand that Dr. Hampton is just one man. But he has done great things for Lane College & I will forever be appreciative for it all.”

“I feel as though he honestly cares about the students mental and physical well-being on campus. From the actual beautification of the campus to some slight improvements in the cafe. He honestly listens to us and takes what we say seriously. Also, the fact that he walks around on campus and actually interacts with the students says a lot about how he values our opinion.”

“Dr. Hampton has always been there for me when needed and he’s a great guy. I can’t speak on what alumni has to say about him because I don’t have enough knowledge about things like that, but in my opinion he’s doing the best with what he’s been given. I appreciate him.”
